Team USA, led by LeBron James' 23 points and 6 assists, overcame a 16-point deficit to defeat South Sudan, the youngest nation to ever play international basketball, 101-100 on Saturday night. The victory keeps Team USA undefeated in exhibition play ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
South Sudan, which is making its Olympic debut in Paris, gave Team USA a scare, leading by as many as 16 points in the second half. However, James and his teammates chipped away at the lead, and James' layup with 8 seconds remaining gave the United States the lead for good.
Team USA will next play Spain on Monday night in its final exhibition game before heading to Paris. The Americans are looking to win their fourth consecutive Olympic gold medal.
