Matip and Sadio Give Reds Comfortable Win
Liverpool maintained their title charge with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park on Monday night. Goals from Joel Matip and Sadio Mane sealed the win for the Reds, who moved back to within two points of leaders Manchester City.
Matip opened the scoring in the 25th minute, heading home from a corner kick. Mane doubled the lead just before half-time, latching onto a through ball from Mohamed Salah and finishing clinically.
Villa had chances to get back into the game in the second half, but they were unable to find a way past Liverpool's resolute defence. The Reds sealed the win in the 67th minute when Mane scored his second goal of the night, tapping in from close range after a cross from Salah.
